Dressing sexy while you’re pregnant isn’t as hard as you think. Just look at stylish celebs like Heidi Klum, Angelina Jolie and Camila Alves, who are all fans of Isabella Oliver maternity. We recently chatted with co-founder Baukjen de Swaan Arons to get her take on how to spice up your wardrobe while expecting.
“During my first pregnancy, I really struggled with what to wear,” the designer — who started the line with partner and friend Vanessa Knox-Brien — tells PEOPLE. “As a mother of three, I know how important it is to have [maternity] clothes that look and feel fabulous.”

1. Avoid baggy or “men’s” clothes. Instead, celebrate your curves in fitted cuts made out of stretchy fabrics like a V-neck ruched top or a wrap dress. You want to wear pieces that drape and hug your body — bump and all!
2. Go for color. A timeless LBD always works, however a LRD (little red dress) — like the one-shoulder version Bethenny Frankel wore — boldly puts your growing belly on display.
3. Keep up your beauty routine. They say pregnant women have a glow, but simple makeup looks can up the glamour. Try a smoky eye with nude lips or a statement lip color paired with understated eyes. Either way, you’ll look va-va voom.
4. Wear a heel. It doesn’t have to be sky-high, but 1.5 to 2 inches will still elongate your legs, giving you a sexy silhouette. And you can’t go wrong with classic black pumps — they add a sophisticated touch to any outfit.
5. Be confident. As long as you feel fabulous in your own skin, it will shine through. Whether you’re wearing a bump-hugging dress or tank with maternity jeans, you’ll look sexy.
